  • How important will Social Security be for your retirement?  A recent survey found that more than 75% of Americans say that Social Security will be a vital part of their retirement funding.  Since the recession began, approximately 90% say that it will be more important to them than they ever imagined since it can provide the security of a dependable income.

This fact is very significant in that some 30 million Americans are expected to retire within the next decade.  However, many of those same 30 Million Americans express serious concerns about Social Security's ability to pay the benefits anticipated by the next generation.  Only slightly more than 40% of not-yet-retired people surveyed expressed confidence that Social Security funds would be available when they retire.

Changes to the national retirement system are inevitable.  As the population of seniors continues to grow exponentially, the funding for future retirees will continue to shrink.  The result...there will have to be major changes in the retirement system in the near future.

Your best option is to seek God's leadership as you make arrangements to provide as much of your own retirement funding as you possibly can while leading up to retirement.  Under his leadership begin saving / investing for your own personal retirement. When you retire, draw from both your private investments plus the Social Security funding as it exists at the time of your retirement.

Even more important than Social Security or private investments is your ultimate retirement plan.  Do you plan to spend eternity in heaven with the Lord?  Navigate to our Heaven tab to find out more about spending eternity with God in the wonderful place he has prepared for those who love him...Heaven.
